Oh.
Hello!
Oh.
Hello!
Hi, I’m Jingyu — a learning and instructional designer based in the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area. Currently, I design and deliver training solutions for a Fortune 500 real estate services company, where I’ve been part of an award-winning L&D team supporting the growth of hundreds of thousands of professionals worldwide. I am experienced with the full instructional design lifecycle and skilled across multiple modalities—from eLearning and microlearning to ILT and VILT. I am fluent in tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, and Adobe Creative Cloud. I’ve recently enjoyed exploring AI tools and building AI agents. I enjoy experimenting with merging tools and technologies. For me, the most exciting part of this field is the chance to continuously learn, adapt, and innovate.
My Design Philosophy
To me, instructional design is both a science and an art. The science lies in analyzing needs, applying learning principles, and using data to measure impact. The art comes from creativity, storytelling, and empathy — designing experiences that connect meaningfully with learners. At the center of my work is the belief that learning is a social activity; it should be practical, engaging, and designed with a deep understanding of the audience’s needs and goals.
Learner-Centered: I focus on learners’ real challenges and design solutions that meet them where they are.
Outcome-Driven: Every design is built with behavioral change and real-world application in mind.
Clarity First: Content is delivered in a way that’s clear, actionable, and easy to absorb.
Design for Engagement: Interactions are purposeful, making learning both effective and immersive.
Value-Focused: I prioritize content that delivers impact and value, not just volume.
I grew up in Beijing, and those early cross-cultural experiences shaped my open-minded attitude and global perspective. After earning my Master’s in Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, I spent nearly a decade working as an educator in both the greater Boston area and the Bay Area before transitioning into instructional design. This dual background gives me a strong foundation in analyzing learner needs, creating engaging materials, and evaluating learning outcomes.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family. You might also find me in the kitchen cooking or baking, enjoying a weekend gardening project, piecing together a 500-piece puzzle, or relaxing with watercolor painting and photography.
I believe learning should be meaningful, inspiring, and practical—and I bring that belief into every project I design. Very nice to meet you!
